A local family business

Upbeet Kai started in 2019, a small and cosy family affair, the passion for plant based eating was turned into a successful business.

Keeping things intentionally small scale and enjoying the life balance that working from our registered home kitchen brings, we have attended markets, events and catered for weddings and the cake side of the business continues to grow.  Making beautiful cakes, decorating each cake thoughtfully, coming up with new creative ideas throughout the seasons and providing cake for those special life moments is super satisfying.

Classic Homemade Cakes

The cakes are kept to classic flavours, tried and tested favourites, with a few seasonal additions popping every month or two as well. Our garden provides edible flowers, home grown fruit and herbs used in the cakes.  We use top quality ingredients that are as local and simple as possible, Good Oil and Viberi berries from Canterbury for example, and use freeze dried berry powders in our frosting, no artificial stuff!

Sorry we don’t do writing or custom themed cakes, we pretty much stick to our style of natural looking cakes, with uniced sides.

Plant Based Deliciousness

We are plant based eaters ourselves and enjoying being part of the increasing popularity and interest in this way of eating, and are proud that our cakes are truly delicious and consistently enjoyed by all eaters at social gatherings, cake that is truly inclusive and doesn’t leave anyone left cakeless!

We pride ourselves on providing high quality products, with creative flair and, as with most small business owners, are highly motivated, providing good service, quality products and great communication with our customers.
